my LAST BLOG

Hi, this is my last blog, and in this last blog I will discuss my academic performance. Like I have established on previous blogs, I study physical therapy, at the “Universidad de Chile”. Although I like this program, career and the future that represent, my academic performance has not been how I expected. It has been hard, and long, and I have failed in some of the subjects of the program. This means that I will have to repeat the subjects that I have failed this year, in order to keep forward in the program and be a future kineologist.

For start, at the first semester, I failed in the subject which contain histology, embryology and organology. It was not hard; I mean it was not impossible or something that you will never pass, it had required difficulty. I failed in that subject because I am a lazy boy and I miss some of the classes and one of the tests, and for that, I could not take the final exam of the subject.

But, the most difficult and exhaustive subject of all (for me at least) was the subject that contain anatomy. I never was good at anatomy, it was difficult for me to remember all names of structure of the human body, but I understood and associated the names with mnemonic words, so I was save with that. The things that I failed in that subject were the other topics beside anatomy, like immunology, physiology, neuro-anatomy and physic, those were the topics that I failed, because I did not understand them, or just I forgot them as soon as I leave the university. For example, physic was a topic that I understand at the moment, but when the moment to applied my knowledge of it, I did not know what to do, and it was frustrating. The other topics were more difficult, because I did not understand them, much less applied them, so I did not go to the classes or I fell asleep on them, and so, I did not learn a lot from the classes.

At the end I just can say that, despite I did not pass some of my subjects, I am passing others. And I know that if I focus on my goal, and my future want to be, I can get through the university, because I like my future profession, and the thing that I like, I finish them, like functional anatomy (which is one topic of the anatomy subject), that is one of the topics that I understand and it is easy for me. Just like that I will pass all of my subjects no matter what, no matter how many years take me (I hope not to many XD). In this moment, I just know that despite everything, I will be the best kineologist of all. And at the next year I will have the best grades on the subjects that I failed this year, because WHAT DOES NOT KILLS YOU, MAKE YOU STRONGER!!

WHAT I THINK OF MY FUTURE CARRIER

Well, like I have said before, I am studying Physical therapy. In my university this program has been “improve” with a new curriculum, which is a lot different from the last year’s curriculum, and theoretically is much better than the last one and the student will have more free time, all again THEORETICALLY SPEAKING of course. The reality is that, despite the stress and the little free time that we have the new curriculum approach us more to our future than the last year’s curriculum. For example we all ready have contact with patients and we allegedly will be going hand to hand with the students from the old curriculum, which it means that we would be more prepared for when we out of here.

Technologically speaking, the physical therapy is better for the patient than for the kineosiologist in some areas, for example, when making the pressure of the patient, there are new machines that can measure that faster than a person. Which means that we will not have more job for that in the future.

When you ask people from the street what is physical therapy? They only think on people massaging, or maybe one in ten people will answer that is the person who take care of your muscles and bones. But physical therapy is a lot more than that, I think that most people do not know what really does a kineologist, and for that reason, when people are injured with smaller things that a kineologist can fix quickly, they ignore that “small wound” and they have to go to a doctor for that complication of that wound, and it would be more expensive and harder to fix. So I think that the Physical therapy carrier have to be disseminated and explained to the general people, so that everyone know what a kineologist does, and then, we, the kineologists, can do better our work, on the right time to prevent further damages and have more work. At the end all can be resumed that the kineologists can work more if the people know what they really do.

And that is what I think of my future carrier. BYE

My Faculty

I am studying the Physical Therapy program in the prestigious University of Chile, more precisely, in the Medicine Faculty. This has all the programs related with the health, except for the dentistry program that is in the Faculty crossing the street.

The Medicine faculty is a big building with many sections, corridors, outdoor spaces and parking, right next to it, and in the same block there is the Saint J.J. Aguirre’s Hospital, and you can enter the hospital from the inside of the faculty building or from outside. It also has research departments and many auditoriums, a hall of anatomy and a big library where you can do a lot of things like study or researches, or even sleep or eat (these two last things are suppose to be forbidden XD), and a gym that we can use when we want. There are a lot of green areas too where you can lie on to relax and we have two cafeterias.
In general I am very satisfied with my faculty, but I can not hide that there are things that I do not like with it. Like some of the bathrooms, because there is often no toilet paper or the bathrooms are all painted and scratched. But there is one bathroom (the bathroom that is next to the anatomy hall) that is always clean, and every time has toilet paper, the only thing is that is not always open. I really think that all the bathrooms of the faculty should be like that bathroom.
Apart of that I do not have any complain.

What I do in my free time

Well, in my free time I usually do just the kind of things that relax me. Things like sleep, eat, lie in my bed, listen music, watch a movie or something, that kind of things, like every normal person, but I also do things like swim in any swimming pool I find. No matter where or when, because to be in a swimming pool, for my, is the most relaxing thing in all the world, it is just like flying, to floating aimlessly in the water, it is like… to be completely free, no worries, no sadness, not a single problem. And if it is raining, is just like you were in another world, one made of pure water, it is the most relax time that I can ever imagine. Every time that I can be in a pool when it is raining is a time for me to swim, and if there is a lighting storm, that is just like a symphony just played for me. The water and be in the water works every time for me when a want to relax and think. There is no better time when I am in a pool, except maybe when I am in a pool lying on the water and watching a full moon and all the stars that you can see. It is like just magic.
When I am not swimming in a pool, I usually hang out with friends, or playing videogames, but all that can wait if I can be in a swimming pool, and it is always better if I am in a swimming pool with a lot of friends.

Where to go in Santiago

If a friend of me arrives at Santiago from another country, I would definitely take him to San Cristobal`s hill, where he could see almost every corner of Santiago, IF, of course, it rain the day before, because if it did not rain the day before the cloud of smog will not let him see anything, and that would be embarrassing. But there is still the Metropolitan zoo and on the top of the hill is the virgin Maria, of course that there is the lift which can pick us to the top of the hill, but I think that is more fun to walk to the top or make your way between the bushes to the top is the most exciting adventure you could possibly do in that hill.

I also can take him to the Parque Arauco`s mall, where we could do a lot of things, beside shopping. We can do some ice skating, or bowling, if he likes.

In the nights I would take him to Suecia`s neighbourhood, where there are a lot of discos and bars to dance and have a good time.

And I definitely go to lunch with him to “Donde la Cuca”`s restaurant, where they cook typical Chilean food, and I am sure that he would love the food because I love that food and it is very good.

FOOD

My favourite food is basically whatever my nanny cooks. But unfortunately she can not cook a great variety of foods, because my brothers do not eat anything if they do not know what it is or looks strange or if it is smell different. When she cooks something new, I am the first who try it, and in the most cases I like it and want more (what it miens that I eat what my brothers do not eat).

My nanny (I call her Tita) has taken care of all four of us since my oldest brother was born, so she knows what we eat and how we eat it. Normally in winter she just cook things like fried fish, rice with meat, and things like that, but every Friday she do the most delicious food of all, a stew, made of fried potatoes, sausages, egg and onions. It is the most BEATIFUL FOOD OF ALL!!, when I smell it when I am entering home, I start to cry for joy.

On summer Tita used to cook whatever she thinks of, and the lunch time always is within a pretty smell. And of course every Friday is stew’s day.

I simply love Tita, and I love her meals.

A country I would like to visit.

Well I would like to visit so many countries around the world, but I really would like to visit the countries that are on islands, like Australia and New Zealand. Because those countries are surrounded by sea, where you can swim, snorkelling and most of all you can do deep diving, which is one of my favourite hobbies. But both Australia and New Zealand are not just surrounded by sea, they also have beautiful scenarios and a lot of wildlife.
I really do not know a lot of those countries, except that in Australia live marsupials, like kangaroos or the funny koalas. In New Zealand I just know that there are so many different kinds of birds and it have so many beautiful places to visit.
In Australia I would like to travel by foot across the country and see all the animals and I would like to do some deep diving in there too, around the reefs and look out for Nemo or any clown fish that I found.
I would like to live in New Zealand and work on there too, but of course that I will see all I want and do deep diving, if I get to live in New Zealand.
The only thing that prevents me to do all I want is the money, so I will have to work a lot, if I want to do some of the things that I recently said.
